Community Mini-Symposia
NAASC, the ICAR 2024 Organizing Committee, reviewed 68 community proposals for 38 slots. Each proposal was scored by 3 independent reviewers, with proposer information redacted, then discussed by the committee to balance topics, career stage, geographic distribution, and gender. Ultimately we recommended to merge 24 proposals into 12 collaborative sessions and recommended 26 to remain solo.
Our primary goal for ICAR 2024 is to showcase cutting-edge & exciting plant biology research- with a focus on Arabidopsis- to be achieved through community mini-symposium proposals. To support our diversity & inclusion objectives- as we did for ICAR 2021- our goal was to reserve ~25% of session slots for student & postdoc organizers, assuming we received a sufficient number of excellent applications
