ICAR 2024 is being organized by community-elected and volunteer faculty members of the North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee (NAASC)

We are committed to enabling access to as many people as possible and are fundraising to:
  1. ... lower costs for everyone
  2. ... provide free or discounted rates for scientists with financial need*
  3. ... add hybrid access
  4. ... support members of underrepresented groups in US STEM

We have set a goal to raise funding to support up to 100 free registrations fees for applicants with financial need.

*Some groups that will be prioritized:

  • early career scholars (students, postdoctoral scholars)
  • scientists from the Global South
  • scientists that are parents of young children and have need
  • scientists that have disability accommodation needs
  • faculty from lower-resources institutions, e.g., Primarily Undergraduate Institutions, Community Colleges, HBCUs & MSIs (US institutions)
  • members of underrepresented groups in US STEM
We have established the NAASC Equity Fund to support participants that are ineligible for US government grants due to funder restrictions:
  • non-US scientists
  • US scientists that are ineligible due to later career stage or are not being a member of an underrepresented group in US STEM, but still face financial barriers to full participation
We encourage you to consider adding a donation to the Equity Fund to your sponsorship, exhibition, or advertising package (shown as a line item on the application.)

All funds donated to the Equity Fund will be used as described above, for increased access.

All donors to the Equity Fund will be gratefully acknowledged (unless you indicate to remain anonymous)
