See "Alternative Lodging" section below for some information on hotels.
On-campus residence halls are the closest to the ICAR 2024 site (Price Center at UCSD) and a budget-friendly lodging option (rates include full breakfast.)
The official lodging for ICAR 2024 are the on-campus residence hall apartments which are operated by the University. Given the high price of local hotels we consider this to be the best option for most attendees (for example, a 4 night package in a shared room is ~ the same cost as a single night at the closest hotel, the Estancia). Note that the minimum package reservable is for 4 night: 15-19 July. There are no credits or refunds for unused days or for checking out early (this is a University requirement).
These are apartment style which means rooms are private, or can be shared (with locking doors), and shared living space: bathrooms, shower, living area, kitchen. There are 4-6 individual rooms/apartment. We will fill in individuals to a rooming list to fill apartments. If there are individuals that wish to be assigned to the same apartment, you can indicate this in your residence hall reservation form*. If you want to reserve a shared room, you can indicate the name of your roommate when you reserve, or you can indicate that you need a roommate assigned to you*.
April 15: Reduced rate deadline.
April 30: Deadline for guaranteed extra night(s).
June 1: Deadline to guarantee on-campus standard 4 night housing packages (extra nights may only be added if there is availability).
We will accept late reservations if there is availability (not guaranteed).
4 night packages include breakfast.
There is no credit for shorter stays.
Up to 2 extra nights may be added if this helps your travel (July 14 early check-in and/or July 20 late check-out). Each day also includes breakfast (the following morning)
Campus check-in time on July 14 & July 15: 11 am - 11 pm (location TBD)
Campus check-out time: 8 am - 11 pm**
*We will do our best to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee that we will be able to. Campus housing requires us to maximize occupancy; the best way to ensure you can share an apartment with the person(s) you want is to all have the same check-in/check-out dates **As a courtesy, UCSD housing has allowed for Friday check-out as late as 11 pm so you can finish the ICAR (~2:15 pm) and then check-out, if this fits your travel.
We will arrange space at the Price Center (ICAR site) to hold luggage ~8:30 am – 3 pm on Friday 19 July to accommodate earlier departures on the last day of ICAR.
If you prefer a hotel-style environment or you are traveling with friends or family, you may prefer alternative lodging. You must find & book alternative lodging on your own.
Note: hotels near ICAR are expensive ($300+/night). There are less expensive alternatives further away that will require transportation (e.g., Uber/Lyft, public transportation- such as the San Diego trolley, or the use of a personal rental car & daily parking permit)
We provide some hotel listings as a courtesy (see the Alternative Lodging section below this section). The list is further sub-divided into nearby hotels (possibly within walking distance) and further hotels: some accessible to the Trolley and others that would require Uber/Lyft or car rental. There are MANY hotels in San Diego- our list is by no means exhaustive. There are also AirBNBs and VRBOs, and other products.
Residence Hall Cancellations: Guest cancellations on or before the deadline date (June 1) will receive a partial refund. Cancellation fee is $10/day.

There are many hotels, motels, resorts, hostels, AirBnb, VRBO, etc. in San Diego. If you receive any solicitations from any hotels claiming to be affiliated with ICAR, this is false. We will only offer onsite campus lodging.
If you prefer an upscale hotel experience, we advise you to book off-site lodging early.
July in San Diego is "high season”! Prices are at their highest point and inventory at its lowest.
All off campus bookings are to be done by individuals and will not be coordinated by ICAR.
ICAR will manage onsite budget campus lodging only.
